2023 Year 9 Camp

As part of Year 9, students are invited to attend a school Camp held at the Gold Coast Recreation Centre from Monday 27th March - Wednesday 29th March. The major objectives of this camp is to aid in the development of students’:
  • Decision making skills;
  • Ability to function as an effective team member;
  • Ability to identify leadership styles;
  • Conflict resolution skills; and
  • Motivational skills.
Please find the packing list for the Year 9 Adventure Camp through the following link. Students will be expected to comply with the terms of the Student Code of Conduct (2020-2023) for the duration of this activity. 
 
Activity details:
  • Location Address: Gold Coast Recreation Centre, 1525 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach QLD 4221
  • Date: 27/03/2023-29/03/2023
  • Departure Time: Students will need to meet at the undercover Tuckshop area at 8:30 AM on the 27th.
  • Return Time: Students will be returned to the Senior Campus at approximately 2:30 PM on Wednesday the 29th of March.
  • Activity Risk Level: Medium - Students will be fully supervised by qualified teachers and camp convenors for the duration of the camp. First aid will be available at all times. 
  • Teacher Leader: Mr Craig Bowden
  • Transport: Students will be travelling by bus to and from the excursion venue.
  • Dress Code: Students are to wear appropriate sun safe clothes each day with closed in shoes. Please also see attached What-To-Bring List.  
  • Other Requirements: Students are required to bring their own water bottle, sunscreen and hat to camp.
 
Administration of Medication on Camps:
The Department recognises that all medications, including over-the-counter (OTC) medications, e.g. paracetamol or alternative medicines, may be drugs or poisons and may cause side effects. As such, schools are required to receive medical authorisation from a prescribing health practitioner (e.g. doctor, dentist, optometrist, but not a pharmacist) to administer any medication to students, including those bought over-the-counter.
 
Activity Costs:
The cost of this camp will be $230. This amount covers transport, food, accommodation, insurance and activities each day. This amount is non-refundable. No late payments or permissions will be accepted.
